"It is with great sadness that I have to announce the death of our dear friend, Walter Klemann. Walter passed away on 1st March 2008.
Walter along with his wife, Kath, were staunch supporters of the 59th St Augustine's Scout Group.
Walter first got involved with the Group as a customer. He used to hire the Headquarters to run a Whist Drive. Then as a Wine Guild member, they used the Headquarters for their monthly meetings (and very good wine it was).
Walter became involved with the Scout Post Scheme at St Augustine's Scouts and soon became part of a dedicated band of helpers for this annual fund raising event. Every year, the Group had a Thank You Party and the entertainment was more often than not one of Walter's famous quizzes. Walter helped out at Group Jumble Sales, his idea of going to a Jumble Sale was not to buy anything but to help sell the jumble, and I know for a fact that many fund raisers have benefitted from Walter's presence.
Walter was awarded a Thanks Badge for his services to the Group and may I say that he will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him. He never did anything for reward, but for the satisfaction it gave him to help others.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Kath and her family and may I just add an old Yorkshire saying -
HE WERE A GOOD UN, KATH!"
