Camping at Drakeholes at the start of WW2
"Harrowgate Camp (1952) with Paul Rouse in charge.
Dave Parkin (ASL) erected an aerial ropeway over a river.
This was secured by his failsafe 3-2-1 system which failed when I was used as the test pilot".

"Great Tower Camp (1958) (joint with 72nd St Andrew's).
We had one boy whose mother worried about him coming as he only ate brown bread, blue cheese and mushy peas. I agreed to feed him as much of this as he wanted but he would have to cook food for the others when it was his turn. He came back eating 16 things including sausages and baked beans. His mother was delighted!"
Martin Smith (Rover Scout (59th) and ASM (72nd))
