Damper/Stumps/LIX Express Collection

The first Group magazine, published in 1940, was entitled "Damper" and ran (it is believed) for two issues. It was printed on what appears to be war-time rationed paper. It had joint editors, R Swinden and K Jones, who are believed to be Scouts.
K Jones may be Dr K B Jones who was Group Chairman from 1957 to 1966.

"Stumps", named after the Group-peculiar game, has had several lives. It was first published in June 1962 and, under seven different editors, continuously ran until September 1982. The archives contain all issues (either original or photocopy).

In Autumn 2000, "Stumps" was revived under the editorship of Chris Bullivant and ran to Autumn 2007.
Again, the archive contains a complete set of original issues.

In Summer 2009, a single edition (no 170 - vol 30.1), under the editorship of Steph Gale, was published.

2010 - 2012, an annual edition has been published for the AGM, edited by Steph Gale and Simon Bebbington.

The LIX Venture Scout Unit published twelve editions of the "LIX Express" from March 1982 to Summer 1988.
It was edited by Chris Bullivant (1982-1983) and later revived by Robert Atkin (1986-1988).
In June 1987 LIX Express was featured in the Venture Scouting section of Scouting magazine.
It also came 9th in the National Venture Scout Newsletter Competition.
LIX Express contained reports of the Unit’s activities, competitions, letters, cartoons and comment by someone in the Group.
The last two editions were annual specials with Summer Camp reports.
