Significant content of these archives is based on material assembled by the late Ken Atkin whose name appears on many other pages on this site.
Without Ken's efforts, these archives probably would not exist.
He was particularly responsible for the lists of dates, awards, camps, leaders etc.
The archives and this website have been further developed by Andrew Jones based on unsorted material accumulated over the last 100 years.
The website is kindly hosted by Koinonos and powered by PHP and mySQL
This website is an attempt to reflect the large quantity of archive material held by the Group. Certain parts of the history of the Group (e.g. the building of the HQ on Botanical Road) are responsible for disproportionately large portions of the archives. The website editorial strategy is to try and present a balanced history of the Group and consequently not all archive material is presented fully on this website. Similarly, the archives contain material which is not of immediate relevance to the Group history e.g. material relating to Sheffield City Scouting and St Augustine's Church. Again, this is not fully presented on this site.
Whilst every effort has been made to minimise errors and omissions, it is inevitable that they will occur. Some of the archives are based on uncorroborated single statements or personal memories.
